JP-8000

The Roland JP-8000 is an analog modeling synthesizer, meaning it uses digital signal processing to recreate the behaviour of analog subtractive synthesis rather than relying on analog oscillator and filter circuitry. Roland produced it in the second half of the 1990s, with a 49-key keyboard and eight-voice polyphony, and it introduced the Supersaw waveform, a single oscillator setting built from several detuned sawtooth waves. It is most closely identified with that Supersaw lead sound, which became a common element of trance and other electronic dance music.
