Jupiter-8

The Jupiter-8 is an eight-voice analogue polyphonic synthesiser that Roland introduced in 1981 and kept in production into the mid-1980s. Each voice combines two voltage-controlled oscillators with a resonant low-pass filter offering switchable 12 dB and 24 dB slopes, and the instrument has a 61-note keyboard, 64 patch memories, an arpeggiator, and split and dual keyboard modes. It was built before MIDI became a standard fitting, and its characteristic uses are the pad, brass and string sounds of early-1980s pop and electronic music.
