JX-3P

SYNTHESIZER · USED MARKET ONLY

The Roland JX-3P is a six-voice analog polyphonic synthesizer that Roland produced in the early 1980s, using two digitally controlled oscillators (DCOs) per voice feeding an analog filter and amplifier. It was one of Roland's first MIDI-equipped instruments, and because the front panel provides little direct hands-on control, sounds are edited through the panel's button-based parameter selection or with the optional PG-200 programmer, which adds dedicated sliders. It also includes a built-in chorus effect and a simple sequencer, and is typically used for pad, brass, and bass sounds of the kind heard in 1980s pop and electronic music.
